International Youth Nuclear Congress (IYNC) 2010 - First annoucement

Dear Young Nuclear Professional,

The International Youth Nuclear Congress (IYNC) 2010 will be held in Cape Town, South Africa, on 12-18 July 2010. IYNC has held five successful conferences around the globe – with delegates convening in Slovakia (2000), South Korea (2002), Canada (2004), Sweden/Finland (2006), and Switzerland (2008). The recent IYNC 2008 conference attracted over 330 nuclear professionals from 30 countries !

The IYNC2010 conference will be held the week after the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup. The conference location is the City of Cape Town located in the Western Cape Province. The venue is the internationally renowned Cape Town International Convention Center which is situated at the foot of the famous Table Mountain.

There are direct international flights to Cape Town and Johannesburg international airports as well as domestic connections between Johannesburg and Cape Town leaving almost every hour.

The IYNC2010 technical programme consists of ten tracks as listed below.

Track 1 : Plant Construction, Operation and Maintenance

Track 2 : Nuclear Fuel Cycle

Track 3 : Nuclear Policies, Economics and Human resources

Track 4 : Nuclear Materials, Chemistry and Structural Integrity

Track 5 : Radiation Science and Technology

Track 6 : Fusion Science and Technology

Track 7 : Reactor Safety

Track 8 : Thermal-Hydraulics

Track 9 : Reactor Core Design, Simulation and Modelling

Track 10 : Young Generation Activities

Contributions to the IYNC2010 will be presented either in oral or poster sessions. All submissions will undergo review by international peers. Accepted papers presented at the conference will be published in the IYNC2010 proceedings.

Important Dates :

April 13, 2009 – Technical Programme open for Abstract submissions August 3, 2009 – Deadline for Abstract submissions

The technical programme will also include several professional development workshops and visits to South Africa’s Koeberg nuclear power plant, its nuclear waste disposal facility and several other nuclear research facilities.
